HEMP EXPORTS.
The returns of hemp graded for export during the month ot June totalled for the whole Dominion 5143 bales, or an increase of 1012 bales over the corresponding period of 1908. The twelve monthly period, however, shows a veiv heavy decrease. The bales graded for the two years ending 30th "June were as under :—: — 1908 ..„ 4 .. . 107,579 bales 1909 ... ,„ ... 76,782 bales Decrease ... 30,797 bales For the six months ending 30th Jun«C the position was as follows :—: — 1908 55,131 bales 1909 ;... 42,561 bales Decrease ... 12,570 balf>s The principal contributors in bales for the months of June 1908 md 1909 were as follow :—: —
The total output for the month was 5143, a* above stated. " Good fair " predominated at Welling, ton for last June, whereas the largest quantity graded here for June last year; was " tair grade." There were 1163 bales of tow graded for the year, second grade predominating, and 22 bales (Auckland) were coni demned.
