The Hon. D. Buddo is spending the week-end at his home at Rangiora.. Mr. Louch, District Engineer of the Public Works Department, left this morning for Napier on business connected with the Roads Department. Mr. W. Bowles, tiafiic clerk in the Railway Department at Wellington, left this morning for Auckland to relieve the traffic manager, Mr. T. W. Waite. The officers of the Post and Telegraph Department intend to entertain Mr. J. K. Logan, Superintendent of Electric Lines, by way of congratulating him on his being awarded the Imperial Service Order. . Mr. W. 0. Drake, for many years postmaster at Carterton, and now of Waimate, has been transferred to Pctone in succession to Mr. Greatbatch, who has retired from the service owing to ill-health. The Attorney-General, Dr. Findlay, at the invitation of the Mayor of Dunedin, has agreed to deliver a political address in the Burns Hall in that city on Wednesday, 21st inst., telegraphs our Dunedin special. Sir Chas. Lucas and Mr. A. R. Pearson, the Colonial Office representatives, were entertained by the Hon. Dr. Findlay and Mrs. Findlay yesterday afternoon. The other members of the Ministry, the Judges of the Court of Appeal, and several Government officials were also present. Sir Chas.' Lucas and Mr. Pearson leave for Christchurch and Dunedin on Tuesday. Mr. Harris Mori is. of the firm of Messrs. H. Morris and Co., wholesale and manufacturing clothiers, of Jer-vois-quay, was the recipient of a handsome dinner service, presented to him on his approaching marriage, by the employees of the firm. The presentation was made by Mr. Harold Austin, and * Mr. Morris suitably responded. Three cheers were given for Mr. Morris and his future wife. At a meeting of the Wellington Camera Club last evening, advantage was taken of the occasion to present Mr. A. B. Keyworth, who is leaving on .the 24th inst. for a trip to England, with a very handsome travelling rug. Mr. Davidson, in making the presentation, referred to the many fine qualities possessed by Mr. Keyworth, and expressed the hope that his trip would be of the greatest benefit, both from 1 a business and health point of view. Cable advice has been received by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland (Dr. Lenihan) announcing the death of Dr. Murray, the Roman Catholic Bishop oE Maitland, New South Wales. The Right Rev. James Murray, D.D., was consecrated first Bishop of Maitland in 1865, and was the oldest Roman Gatholic Bishop in Australia, according to date of consecration. He was born in County Wicklow, Ireland, on 25th March, 1828, and studied philosophy and theology at the College of the Propaganda in Rome. In 1852 he was promoted to priesthood, and from 1854 to 1865 was private secretary to Archbishop Cullen, of Dublin, 1854-65.. During a visit to Rome in 1881 he secured for his diocese a community of Redemptorist missionaries, which represented an important foundation to the Church in Australia. He was the first to introduce the Dominican Nuns to Australia in 1867, and also the Brigidine Nuns in 1883. He celebrated the golden jubilee of his priesthood in 1902.
