In Committee on the 'Government's Finance Bill, the Chancellor of the Exchequer (.Mr. Lloyd-G(«orge), in response to appeals supported by Borne prominent Liberals, promised to make it clear that he did not intend to tax as increment any laud value which was due to good husbandry. PREPARING FOR EMERGENCIES, rTHE LIBERAL CAMPAIGN. ADVICE SOUGHT SF=ROM THE PRESS LONDON, Bth July. The 'Budget 'League, inspired apparently by the example of the Empire editors' great gathea-ing, has invited the editors of Liberal newspapers in London and the Provinces to a conference in London to-morrow, when the league's executive will seek advice as to the best methods of conducting the campaign for explaining Mr. Lloyd-George's Budget proposals throughout the country. Mr. Asquith has invited the editors to meet him at Downing-6treet after these deliberations. Many mass meetings have already been, arranged for.
