NEW ZEALAND CLUB.
The Xow Zealand Club was formed at the V.M.C.A. last evening. There was a preliminary meeting, at which Mr. P. C. Freeth presided, and Mr. 11. Is". Holmes was interim tecretary. The rules were adopted subject to coilfirm.ition at a general meeting of the club at which ollkers for the first year will be elected. It was resolved tlftit the meetings, as a general rule, shalUbe held between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. It wi's confeideied advisable to leave to a committee the calling of summer meetings, the committee to be guided by the presence in Wellington of persons eligible to be made guests of honour. 'J he subscription Mas fixed at 5s per annum. The secretary said he had received promises of a membership of about 40. The first meeting of the club will be held on Tuesday next, at 1 p.m. At the luncheon to take place at the V.M.C.A. on Tuesday next the guest of the club will be the Hon. A. T. Ngata. It is understood that he will make eomo highly interesting observations on the subject of racial- relations and enunciate fresh ideas. The committee has interviewed Sir Charles Lucas and Mir. Pearson, who ha\e undertaken, if possible, to attend the club gatherings on their return from the South in a fortnight's time.
