A good race. t Won by a length. Time, lmin 34sec. Trial Steeplechase, two miles. — Wairakei, 9.11, 1 ; Tc Kainui, 10.9, 2 ; Te Kohau, 9.12, 3. Time. 4min 7sec. Winter 'Oats Handicap, one mile and a distance. — Gladsmuir, 9.6, 1 ; Spate, 10.1, 2 ; Paisano, 10.5, 3. Won all the way. Time, 2min sioc. The totalisator investments amounted to £4027, as against £5024 for the first day last year. Ten bookmakers were licensed for the day.
