In the House of Commons yesterday, the Prime minister, Mr. Asquith, read tho message from Lord Dudley, Gov-ernor-General of Australia, announcing the Commonwealth's offer of a Di'eadnought or its equivalent, to the British Navy. The announcement was received Avith loud cheers. CANADA COMING ROUND. EFFECT OF THE~PRESS CONFERENCE. LONDON, 12th June. The Ottawa correspondent of The Times telegraphs that the proceedings at the Imperial Press Conference have converted a section of the Canadian press, which was recently disposed to make light of the prospects of war. The speeches of Lord Rosebery, Sir Edward Grey, and others have created a profound impression. All the newspapers unite in stating that Canada must realise her responsibilities in the matter of defence.
