Aldershot yesterday to witness the shamfight arranged in honour of the Imperial Press Conference. Taking up a position on Longmoor Hill, the delegates witnessed 7000 men under Major-General Grierson defending Tunnel Hill against Major-General Stephenson, who had 10,000 men at his command. There were a series of infantry rushes, an artillery duel, cavalry charges, and fighting in rifle-pits. General Sir J. D. French, InspectorGeneral of the Forces, and Mr. R. B. Haldane, Secretary for War, entertained the delegates at luncheon in a huge- marquee on Emperor'f Hill. Altogether there were 400 guests present. There was no speech-making. General Smith-Darneii afterwards paraded a brigade of artillery of war strength, with a view to emphasising the necessity for large reserves ot horses. A special force, representing all branches of the service, concluded the display with a grand march past. The delegates inspected the camp, and afterwards met at the Officers' Club.
