At a meeting of unemployed pa-inters, .attended by forty men, the chairman stated that eighty men were out of work, many of them being in _a state of semi-starvation. It was resolved that a deputation interview the Mayor, urging more rapid prosecution of municipal work. | Between 700 and 800 men are sta-ted :to be idle in Auckland. This information was given by a delegate to the Trades and Labour Council.
