Ai. a meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, Mrs. A. R. Atkinson presiding, there were present — Meedames W A. Evans, A. Hoby, W. Fell, J. Kirkcaldie, and Miss Macky. Accounts passed amounted to £4 5s ll^d. There were eight cases reported on since last meeting. In one of cruelty and neglect of children steps are being taken. Other cases are being investigated with a. view to a settlement. The following subscriptions were acknowledged with thanks : —Mr. C W. Smith, £1 ; Mrs. D. Nathan, £1 Is ; Mr. G. Allport and Miss Coates, 10s each : "K.W.," Miss Maclean, Mrs. J. W. A. Marchant, and Mrs H. do B. Brandon, 5s each ; Mrs. J. Aehcroft and Mr. J. Ashcroft, 2b 6d each.
