Barometric pressure has risen steadily everywhere, and especially over the North Island, where a cyclonic depression has passed eastward of Hawkes Bay. The weather has been rough on the east coast between East Cape and Kaikoura and in the north-eastern part of Cook Strait. Rain has fallen in many parts, especially in the North Island, and frost is reported from the Bluff. Southerly winds, stiong to gale, have been experienced on the east coast of the North Island and on the northern side of Cook Strait, and moderate to strong southerly winds elsewhere.
