STEAM SERVICE TO FIJI.
4, TENDER ACCEPTED. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received May 11, 10.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Victorian Government has accepted Mr. Sleigh's tender, at £6000 per annum, for a fortnightly shipping service tfetween Melbourne and Fiji. Mr. H. E. Sleigh, a Melbourne shipowner, offered to acquire the steamers Obidense (1511 tous) and Madeirense (1662 tons), belonging to the Booth Steamship Company, of Liverpool, for the proposed Melbourne-Fiji service. He stipulated, however, that the Victorian Government must first notify its accept ance of his provisional tender.
