INDIAN SEDITION.

SENTENCES ON THE ALIPUR CONSPIRATORS. "WAR AGAINST THE KING." By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. CALCUTTA, 7th May. Sentences have been passed in the bomb conspiracy case, in which Arabindo Ghose (who was found not guilty in April), his brother, Barendra Kumar Ghose (who confessed), Dutt, and other natives were charged with conspiracy and sedition. Barendra Kumar Ghose and Dutt (who prepared the bombs) were sentenced to death. Some others were sentenced to transportation for life or imprisonment ranging from one to ten years. Arabindo Ghose and the rest of the accused were acquitted. The judge held that Barendra Kumar Ghose's confession had linked up the Muzzaffapui" bomb outrage (which caused the death of Mrs. and Miss Kennedy) and the attempts on the life of Sir A. Fraser (Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal) and the Mayor of Chardarnagar with a conspiracy for collecting arms, carrying out military drill, and making bombs with a wide fire-zone for street fighting — all of which indicated an intention to wage war against the King.
