The Earl of Crewe, Secretary for the Colonies, has consented to allow a month for the hearing of Victorian objections to the application of public accountants for a charter. A COMPANY'S PROFITS. (Received May 8, 8.35 a.m.) LONDON, 7th May. The report of the Trust and Agency Company of Australasia shows profits £53,090. A sum of £2758 is carried forward. ACQUITTED. SYDNEY, 7th May. Harold Ritchie, who was committed for trial last month on a charge of forging the signature of John Holmes for £1, was acquitted. A VICTORIAN LOAN. LONDON, 7th May. The Victorian Government is issuing a loan of £1,500,000, bearing interest at the rate of 3i per cent. The price ot istue is £98. The Victorian loan has been underwritten on the usual terms. NATAL RAILWAY STRIKE ENDED. DURBAN, 7th May. The strike of employees on the Natal railways has collapsed. MINING IN FIJI. SUVA, 7th May. A mining ordinance has been issued proclaiming that the Berkeley syndicate has been granted 30,000 acres of land as a prospecting concession for a term of six months. There are a number of Australian mining men now in Suva.
