SUPPOSED CASE OF SUICIDE.
o fBT TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.} THAMES, This Day. What appears to be a case of suicide has been Reported to the police. Elsie Johnston, aged 23, daughter of a Thames resident, left home on Thursday, and has not been seen since. On Thursday she was seen heading for Kauaranga Valley, where there is a river, deep in places. Yesterday a note was found io a drawer. In the note the girl expressed the intention of making away with herself. A search of the river was made, and there were found, in the vicinity of a deep pool, her hat and boots. The police are now dragging the river. It appears the girl became despondent because she failed to secure employment, and her mind became unhinged.
Dunedin has in stock in its Botanical Gardens about 80,000 young trees for Future planting around the city, states the Daily Times. A start is being made with 4000 Oregon pines, which are to be planted in tha Leith .Valley.
