ASSAULT CASES.

Michael Lynch was charged in court to-day with assaulting William Hugo. Mr. Wilford jippeared for accused. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., entered a conviction and fined accused 40s, with costs 12s, seven days being allowed in which to meet the penalty. The option was fixed at one week's imprisonment. Jack Morton, on a charge of unlawfully assaulting Joseph Elliott Orr, was convicted and fined 20s, costs 6s, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. For unlawfully assaulting Wm. Jno. Holmes, Andrew Matheson was convicted and fined £3, costs £2 Bs, in delault 14 days in i, custody.
