WELLINGTON BOXING ASSOCIATION.

» ANNUAL REPORT. y The sixth annual report of the Wellington Boxing Association, to be presented at the general meeting called for Monday week, speaks of the season now concluded as being one of great activity, and slates that tho results attained must be considered satisfactory to the association. At the last annual meeting the rule regarding membership was amended to. for 25 honorary members. Every' vacanoy resulting from that alteration' was 'at -once filled. There 'are at the present time many nominees awaiting enrolment on the active and honorary lis^s. The life disqualification imposed on jVl'Gibbon for unjustifiable gentleness in his match against Burns, has been endorsed by the New Zealand Boxing Council, and made to apply to the wholo of New Zealand. Pleasure is expressed at the progress made by the Manawatu, Horo■whenua. and Hawkes Bay Associations, all of which have held interesting entertainments during the season. 'The* most harmonious relationship exisi-s amongst the whole of the associations under tho jurisdiotion of the Wellington Centre. The Wellington Association's Management Committee took tho initiative m connection with the establishment of a I sports club. Some progress was made, but another more prominent matter of general interest occurred at the time and temporarily overshadowed iho Sports Club project. It is=, liowcvor. hoped that something tangible »»■>>• yet eventuate. The committee consider* it, desirable that the plant should be renewed at an early date, and before any further tourneys are held. This will involve considerable outlay, but at the same time it is essential that the association should bring its appliancps up-to-date. The financial results of the yeor give cause for satisfaction. Tho receipts from various sources totalled £1076 13s 7d, and j the disbursements amounted ,to £892 18s, ' leaving a credit balance of £183 15s 7d. Full details of receipts and expenditure appear in the balance-bheet. Satisfactory terms were arranged by the aaociation for a visit to New Zealand by Burns, ex-champion heavy-weight of the woi;ld, but exhaustive enquiry convinced the committee of the imposfeibility of securing the halls, in tho various towns at which it was proposed that Burns should appear, and after much negotiation the project had reluctantly to be abandoned, much to the regiet of tho committee.
