Tho Presbyterian bazaar, which was opened yesterday by Major Burlinson in aid of the reduction of tho debt on tho church, was a distinct success. Buchanan who las been interesting himself iv securing clips for Rhipment under Iho auspices of tho Freight Reduction Cocimittee, has been very successful in hi 3 efforts so far as the Wairarapa is concerned. The idoa is prevalent amongst agriculturists that, prices will fall much below those now ruling, and they aro thereforo anxious to quit at tho present rates. FROM FEATHERSTON. FEATHERSTON, This Day. Dr. Webb, of Martinborough, has been elected medical officer for Loyal Martinborough Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U. Messrs. Bunny and Anderson's properly at Taratahi, which is under offer to the Government for closer settlement, was yesterday inspected by Messrs. Jas. Mackenzie (Commissioner of Lands), A. Reese, and Wright (clerk), of the Land Board. The Paka Jvoma Hockey Club intend to opon the season at tho end of April. Miss Benton has been elected captain, Mi?s Skipage vice-captain, and Miss I. Tait secretary. The death took place last night at Carterton of Mr. David Thomas, who had resided in the district for some years. Deceased was about 80 years of age. The funeral takes place to-morrow.
