The Berlin correspondent of the Standard reports that Britain has agreed to recognise the German load-line as equally effective with that of Britain. The load-line prescribed by tho Board of Trade was the result of Samuel Plimsolls agitation in Parliament, which resulted in the Merchant Shipping Act of 18/6. Prior to that many vessels were sent to sea dangerously overloaded, and at the same time heavily insured.
