«. WITHDRAWN AT £12,700. Much interest centred this afternoon in an offering of central city land (known as the Evans Estate) by Messrs. W. H. Tumbull and Company. The property, on which are buildings occupied by Messrs. Ludwig and Gallate Bros. and their sub-tenants, has a frontage of 39ffc 4in to Lambtpn-quay, and 43ft 6in to Wellington-terrace, with a depth of 170 ft lin to 180 ft Bin. The leases expire at the end of August. About thirty peopl9 were present when the auction proceedings began. It was explained that there was a right-of-way, 3ft wide, on tho north side, and this strip could not be built over. Hannah). The auctioneer said that he wanted a minimum of £13,000, and then passed on to another lot. An offer of £12,700 works out at about £323 per foot frontago to Lambtonquay, and the reserve price, £13,000, means about £330 per foot.
