OBITUARY.
THE REV. JOHN KINROSS. By Telegraph.— Preed Association.— Copyright. SYDNEY, 18th October. The death is announced of the Rev. John Kinross, Professor of English Language and Literature (in relation to religion) and of Apologetics and Christian Ethics in St. Andrew's College University of Sydney, aged 75 yearo. Mr. Kinross was ■ born near Ardoch, Scotland, on 11th September, 1833, and was educated at the University of Edinburgh and' New College (D.D. Edinburgh). He arrived in Australia in 1858, and was principal of St. Andiew's College, Sydney, from 1875 to 1900. Mr. Kinross was author of "Dogma in Religion." GENERAL NODZU. (Received October 19, 8.25 a.m.) TOKIO, 18th October. General Nodzu, of Russo-Japanese war fame, is deadMarshal the Marquis Michitsura Nodzu, a Kagoshima Samurai, was born in 1844, and fought on the side of the Mikado in the War of Restoration, and with the Imperialists in the Satsuma rebellion. During the war with China he captured Pinyang, being at that time commander of the First Army Corps. For a time he was Inspector-General of Education. During the Russo-Jap-anese war he had command of the Fourth Army.
