!l>: Telegraph. — Press Association.] DUNEDIN, This Day. - About fifty prominent clients of the National Bank farewelled Mr. J. Sinclair Thomson, late manager in Dnnedin, who 'is leaving for England on Tuesday. On his arrival in London Mr. Thomson is to be presented with a silver tea and coffee service, and a silver salver.

The Amalgamated Society of Eailwayi Servants has placed the following requests before tho Minister of Railways (tho Hon. W. Hall- Jones) :— (1) That forty-eight hours constitnte a week's work for porters, shunters, bignalmen and storemen, and that they bo paid at overtime rates for all time worked in excess of forty-eight hours ; that intermittent time be abolished. (2) That surfacemen's time in walking and inI specting lengths, be included in the forty-eight hours' week. (3) That way and works' men be paid wet and dry, and for all time travelling under the adepartment's instructions. (4) That when a member is not "booked off" for eight clear hours, he be allowed three hours' standing-time, whether the time be night or day. (51 That better facilities be given for second division men to pass into the first division. (6) That temporary transfers be abolished and total cost of transfers be paid by the department. (7) That tho number of acting positions be reduced to a minimum. (8) That counsel be allowed to appear on behalf of members at Appeal Board cases. (9) That the benefits of the Superannuation Fund be in no way curtailed by the operation of the Workers' Compensation for Accidents Act. (10) Dining-car men be placed on the permanent staff, and that their hours be reduced. (11) That raihvaymen be granted full civil and political rights (12) That the widows of superannuated members participate in the benefits of the Superannuation Fund. There were good attendances at all sessions of the Olympia yesterday, the cold weather adding exceedingly to the enjoyment of the pastime of skating. Tomorrow morning there will be a children's matinee, and in the afternoon a childs' race for girls under twelve will be held.
