There was very little doing on 'Change to-day. The sales were confined solely to Talisman Consolidateds, which were, quoted at £2 2s 6d. Thiß improvement over the rates ruling late yesterday was apparently due to an improvement in the water difficulty. Waihis are slightly easier, probably in sympathy with the fall in Talismans, buyers offering £9 4s, but sellers holding for 2s more. Buyers of Blackwater Mines have advanced their offers to £1 4s 9d, but holders are not inclined to part at that figure. No business was done in the investment section, and there is practically no change in the quotations for this stock. Wei- | lington Gas were offered at £19 7e 6d (£10) and £11 5s (£5). I

[ A private cablegram received a short time ago stated that the importation of boned beef into the United Kingdom was to bo prohibited, and a suggestion was made that steps should be taken to assure the Home authorities as to the quality of the boned beef exported from New Zealand. The Minister of Industries and Commerce cabled -to the High Commissioner for information on the point, and has received the following reply :—"ln: — "In reply to your telegram of today's date, I have received draft of regulations from Local Government Board, prohibiting importation of boned beef, dating from Ist November. I thereupon represented the great hardship that [ might result to New Zealand shippers, and asked for extension of time till Ist January. I have received no definite reply, but understand that request will ba complied with."
