STATE OF AFFAIRS AT SPRINGFIELD.
"WHITES INDICTED. MOB ATTACK A G4.OL. 1 Bt Telegraph.— Frest AMoelttlon.— Oopyi igM. NEW YORK, 18th August. At the instance of the Governor of hte State, two hundred whites have been indicted on charges of rioting at Springfield, Illinois. LONDON, 18th August. The Daily Mail's New York correspondent states that owing to negro crimes against white women, lynching orgies are imminent at Home (Illinois) and Galveston. He adds that a mob battered down the doors of the gaol at Huntington, Long Island, and was only prevented by the timely arrival of cavalry from seizing and lynching a. negro prisoner. The latter was removed to a place .of safety.
