PICNICS.
The D.I.'C. employees' picnic at Mason's Gardens on Saturday afternoon was entirely successful. The arrangements ivoro creditably carried out py Mr. B. Clonston, assisted by a comuiittea. During the afternoon sports were hold, and they resulted as follows :— D.I. C! handicap, 60yds, Mies Oldrey; 100 yds handicap, H. Bankin; three-legced race, Jackson and Chamb&rs; ladies.' cigarette race, Mi.ssPotosi; half-mile, Rankin ; sack rac«, Marshall ; boys' 100 yds, Power; mariied men's race, Chambers ; 220 yds, Polosi 1, Jackson 2; girjs' 100 yds, Miss Power; tug-o'-war (married v. single), won. by married ; consolation race, Smith. A pleasant day was spent by the employees of J. Duthie, and Co., Ltd., at the residonco of Mr. J. Duthie, Lower Hutt, on Saturday last. 'J.he extensive grounds were thrown open to tho visitors, and numerous pastimes for both young and old were provided.
