EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Eas' bourne. Borough Council met at Rona U'ty on Saturday. Councillor Shortt presided in the absence of the Mayor, who was ill. There were also present : Councillors Danks, Foley, Howden, and M'Keegan. A draft agreement in connection with the council's understanding to prevent the discharge of deleterious matter into the harbour through the Rona Bay culvert waa submitted by the Wellington Harbour Board. The terms of the agreement were agreed to subject, to the Mayor's concurrence. It was decided to obtain the advice of the District Health Officei in regard tp the matter of keeping the stream clean. The District Survey office forwarded a pan of the main road, showing the position of the standard traverse blocks. In connection with this question the Public Works committeo recommended that a surveyor should be omployed to fix the boundaries of all properties where ihoy wore apparently wrong, also that an 8 foot footpath be formed north and south from Fabian-street, along Marine Parade as far as dcclicatod. Both recommendations were adopted. A sub-committee consisting of Councillors Danks and M'Keegan and the Town Clerk was appointed to obtain further information on the question of a water supply. Approval was given to the action of the clerk in applying to (ho Harbour Board for permission to remove gravel from tho beach, and it was agreed to five effect to the stipulations of the oard in granting tho request, viz., to prevent as far as possible the removal of gravel by unauthorised persons, and' to do nothing that would detrimentally affect the beach or prejudice the right tho public to it. ,Mr. \V. S. Short, commissioner appointed by the Governor for tho adjustment of accounts between the corporation and the Hutt County Council, notified thai the' enquiry would be held on 3rd March at 10.30 a.m. It was decided to empower the Mayor and cjork to act as thoy thought best in the matter.
