COMMISSIONER M'KIE. SALVATION ARMY DEMONSTRATIONS.
In connection with the farewell visit to Wellington of Commissioner M'Kie, large gatherings were hold yesterday afternoon and evening in the Opera House. In the afternoon the combined City, Wellington South, and Petone Army bands, under Bandmaster Tremaine, of Auckland, played selections, and uddrcEscs were delivered by Brigadier .M'Millan and Majors M'Kenzie nnd Carpenter. Brigadier Albiston prosided. In the evening the Opera House was filled to overflowing. A service of an evangelistic nature was helfl. and a stirring address was delivered by tho commissioner, who based his remarks on the words, "What will the harvest be?" Ho dealt moro .particularly with subjects such as drinking, gambling etc., and exemplified how easy it was to slip from harmless indulgence to vicious practice. Commissioner M'Kie will this evening conduct a service in memory of Salvation Army workers who havo fallen 111 the field. Photographs of many of the workers will hn thrown upon a screen. About 250 Salvationists will occupy ths stage.
