THORNDON DINGHY SAILING CLUB.

«, Last evening a. race was got off for threo trophies presented by the Port Nicholson Yacht Club. Thera was a light air from the south, all tho boats carrying full sail, and the following boats competed : — L. Palmer's Zel (scr), E. Bailey's Thelma (sci); B. Sterling's Vera (3minVj J. S. Swan's Blowfiy (3min) ; J. and F. Scott's Rona (4min) ; and W. Moore's Ajax (smin). The Rona drew ahead of the Ajax and at tho end of tho first round was lying first with tho Vera second, and the rest of tho boats bunched a little way in the rear. At this stage tho Blowfiy, Ajax and Vera gave up as there was no prospect of a breeze. Shortly afterwards however, a light northerly 'sprang up which enabled the remaining boats to finish well within the time limit. The Rona maintained her lead to tho finish at exactly 8 hours, followed by the Thelma at 3hr Omin 30sec, and the Zel at Bhr lmin. The duties of starter, judge, and timekeeper, weie carried out by Mr. M'Keever, who also framed the handicaps. Next Saturday the second of a series of three races for tho championship will bo sailed.
