FIRE IN THE CITY.
The Fire Brigade received a ca\l at 920 this morning to Garrett-street. It was found, however, thai the fire- was in a two stoiy six-roomed cottage situated in Victoria-place. Thr* brigade experienced somo little difficulty in reaching the five as several fences had to be broken down before the burning house could be reached. The outbreak occurred on the upper floor, and two bedrooms with their contents were practically destroyed by file. The remainder of the houso was raoro or less damaged by smoke and water. The building was owned by Mr. G. Williams of Taranaki-street, and occupied by Mrs. Kato Imria. The contents were uninsured.
