The London Sportman says : — "In the Lancashire match the New Zcalanders, though at times shewing good football, were outstnyed and outgeneralled by tho clover, active Lancastrians.- The colonials woro without the services of Wright, Tyler, and Itowe, whilo they played a man short in the second half, owing to Wynyard being injured. In the second spell tho visitors made strenuous efforts, but failed to break the Lancashire line, though Messenger managed to place a couple of penalty goals.
