CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR UNION. ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENT.

"Enthusiasm" was the subject of an address deliverer! in the Vivian-street Baptist Church last evening, in connection with the Wellington Provincial Christian Endeavour Union, by the Rev.J. T. Pinfold, prcsidont of the New Zealand Union. The speaker commenced j his discourse with the reniark that the lay endeavonrer was a Christian anomaly. They should all be busy bees. Kg would have liked to have seen more ministers present at the meeting. They should remember that the movement to which they belonged, was born in the heart of a minister. Usefulness was the motto of the endeavourer. That word was the very genias of tha movement. Mr., Pinfold then went on to urge his hearers to be enthusiastic in everything they took in hand. They should bo so attuned as to be spiritual magnets' to attract young men and women. Referring to the numerical strength of the movement, Mr. Pinfold stated that, although only in existence since 1881, over 31,000000 persons had passed through Christian Endeavour Societies. At the present tinle- there were between four and five million members. In New Zealand alone there were about 12,000 endeavonrers. The motto that he, as president of the New Zealand tTnion, handed to them was "a new enthusiasm for a new

Dominion." In conclusion he exhorted his listeners to be up-to-date workers, who were both equipped and prepared to take positions in the vanguard of al! movements that tended to the up-lifting and ennobling of mankind. The chair at the meeting was occupied by the local president, the Piov. Macdo 1 &lcl Aspland.
