' ; SYDNEY, 23rd February. At tho' ?-loorefield meeting on Saturday llt. D. O'Brien's colt Maranui scored an easy win, in the Kogarth Stakes, one niile, beating Sulu two lengths. Mr. E. Stevenson's Lionheart , ran second to Aragdn in the Moorefield Handicap, one mile and a quarter. ■ ' PONY RACING. v The initial meeting of the Wellington Pony and Racing Club was held at Miramar on Saturday. A crowd of about 2000 people attended. The various events attracted good fields, and there were some really good finishes. Naturally seme of the animals which started ha-rdly justified their appearance on a race track, but many of the horses showed up vary well, and proved themselves to be first rate sprinteis in their class, notably Kauhoe, Inspiration, and Lady Mason. The meeting was well managed by the committee. .That portion of the public which wished to chance its luck wore given every opportunity by tho army of bookmakers present. The course is a very good one, and it is evidont that the management intend to put down anything in the nature o£ suspicious running. -'A stipendiary steward is given a lofty eminence on tL? Insanity seemed to have the race well in hand coming into tho straight- but' Normandale came with a late run and won by about a. length. Some of the horses which took part in the event would have been more in place doing theii daily rounds in a tradesmen's cart. Timo, lmin 13 3-ssec.
