KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
o The ordinary meeting of the Karori Borough Council was held last evening. Present — Councillors Murdoch (in the chair), Wedde, Smith, Putnam,, Hammond, Spiers, Clark, and Lissington. The Valuer-General wrote requesting the council to f.pppint an assessor to the Assessment Court, as a revaluation of the borough was about to' be made. The matter was referred to the Finance Com-, mittee. A deputation from tho School Committee, introduced by Councillor Lissington, waited on the council, and strongly advocated the erection of municipal swimming baths in the borough, it was pointed out that there was no suitable place for swimming near th© locality, and many school children were therefore growing up without learning to swim. Councillors were in hearty sympathy with the movement. Before taking any action, however, it was decided to refer tho matter to the Recreation Ground Committee lor consideration. It was advised that the baths be erected in the Recreation /Ground. It was thought that an alteration in the tramway timetable would be advantageous to the residents of tho borough, and it was decided to ask the City Council to alter tho timetable on Saturdays between noon juid 9 p.m. to a ten minutes sorvice, and also to run a late" car it)4o) from the city every evening, instead of on Wednesdays and Saturdays only.
