FRONTIER TROUBLE. THE AFRIDIS.
KITCHENER'S OKDERS. A PUNITIVE EXPEDITION. Bj Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright, CALCUTTA, 10th February. Lord Kitchener, Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, is preparing an expedition to inilict exemplary punishment on Iho Zakka Khel Afridis, who have bosn making constant raids and demoralising the border districts. The Afridis are a warlike tribe of Afghans, dwelling south of Peshawar. They have on several occasions beeu the ' cause of frontier fighting. THE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. TESTING LORD KITCHENER'S ORGANISATION. (Received February 11, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 10th February. Router's Calcutta correspondent states that the Nowshera and PeshaWar brigades, under Major-General Sir James Willcocks, will march to the Bazaar CO Valley within a. week to punish the Zakka Khols. The expedition will test Lord Kitchener's new organisation. General Willcocks has had a good deal of experience of frontier work. ; He served in the Afghan campaign, and also took vmrt in the Waziri and other expeditions.
