A cablegram received by Joseph Nathan and Co., of this city, confirms the report that butter is now bringing 140 a ncr cwt in London. Tho arrival at London of tho steamer lonic next week, will bo locked for with much more than customary interest. Most of her cargo of butter has been shipped by factories on consignment, ho they will reap the full benefit of the jump in prices should it be sustained when tho lonic's butter comes under the hammer.

On condition that she went back to the country to-day, his Worship convicted her, and ordered her to come up for sentence when called upon. Several cases of drunkenness were also dealt with. Henry Keogb and John Phillip were each fined 10s, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. William Coulling, for the same offence, was ordered to pay 20s, and failing payment will undergo seven days' imprisonment. Six first offending inebriates were also dealt with. William Bourne, who was brought before the court for stealing cups, spoons, and saucers, valued at 3s, ■ from tho Government railway station, was fined 10s, and ordered to pay the <'ost of the damago and costs amounting to 9s, in default seven days' imprisonment. For disorderly conduct whilst drunk, Patrick O'Shea was fined 40s, in default seven days' imprisonment. » Alfred Ryan, for a similar offence, was penalised to tho amount of 20s, in default seven days imprisonment. Ryan was also chaigeu with using obscene language, and was fined £5, with the alternative of twenty dayV imprisonment. At tho V.M.C.A. rooms, on Sunday, afternoon, tho Rev. Hunt, from Samoa and New Guinea, delivered an address in missionary work in the islands. Tea was afterwards served. Thoso present included several strangers and \ isitore.
