PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE. DUNEDIN HOSPITAL.

Afc a special meeting of the Hospital Trustees this afternoon, tho question of the necessity for precautions against Cro nt the Hospital Buildings came up for consideration The ohairinan (Mr. S. Solomon) said it was generally agreed by their architects (Messrs. Mason and Wales), Supeiintendent Mitchell, and by Dr. Valintino that tho present precautions woro insufficient. Tho archireets, in a report, mado certain suggestions for additional safeguards. Captain Mitchell agreed with these suggestions, and also suggested thnt'two or three firo extinguishers bo placed in several wards or corridors, and that a fire alarm similar io tho street firo-boxes bo placed inside tho front door of the main building, with a wire connected with the fire-box in Hanover-street. Tlio report was rofcrred to (he Building Committee, with power to act, in conjunction with tho architects.
