INFANT PRESERVATION.

AUCKLAND, This Day In furtherance of the scheme' inaugurated in Auckland by Lady Plunket for the preservation of infant life, a second demonstration has been given by Nurse Berwick, at Government House, of ihe proper methods of preparing milk for consumption by infants whose mothers are unable to nurture them naturally. The demonstration was preceded by a discourse, illustrated by lantern slides, showing amongst other enh^ltlening subjects authentic portraits of babies as first received into Dr. Truby King's Home, literally starved, owing to non-assimilation of the improper food they had been receiving, and the presentments of the same cHildren as bonny and well-nourished youngsters as any to be found in tho Dominion after a course ot humanised / milk. No argument could better illustrate the proper and improper feeding of infants than these pictures. I Her Excellency oxpresses some disappointment that, although donations aie coming in freely, the movement is not .progressing as well as might be the case in the matter of membership. It has been represented to her that this may possibly be owing to an idea that ihe movement will clash with other societies doing gpod work in Auckland, but so .far from such bein n ' the case Lady Plunkei is convinced tlut the Infant Preservation Society will prove a valuable auxiliary to such societies.
