The special feature of to-day's programme was a series of events in the ring in which the jumping was of a generally good standard. ' The lady riders did not suffer much by comparison with the riding of the g-entlemen, and tho hearty applause that, followed each test showed that the crowd keenly appreciated a good bit of 'horsemanship. Ihe quality of tho work in the section leading and jumping event, by four mounted riflemen was bad, wkh'the ex-
oeption of that done by the winning team (Sergeant Younger's, of Feilding); j which won "anyhow." CHAIN. Two chain stepping competitions wero held, one on each day. That on the first dny wa3 won by J. Bruce- (66 feet), -with W. G. Pearce (66ft lin) second, and A. F. Walker (65ft lOin) third. MILK TESTING. This was open to children attending primary or district high schools in the Wanganui education district. The competitions embraced Babcock testing, four-bottle machine, and questions on principles involved. Results : — P. Desmond, Cheltenham school, 96 points, 1 ; A. Fetch, Lyttelton-street school, 93 points, 2; Ada Slretton, Cheltenham school, 92 points, 3. POINTS PRIZES. A challenge cup, to bo won two years in succession or three years at intervals, to bo competed for by sheep farmers in thf. Feilding district, in the fat sheep and fat lamb classes, was won yesterday by Mr. F. S. -M'Rae. of Palmerston 2tforth._ who secured 55 points Mr Jas. Knight, of Feilding. came second with 26.7 points. A points prize for the most points in the fat lambs classes was won by .Mr. Jas. Knight with 16 points. Mr. F. S. iMTlie this time was placed second to Mr. Knight with" 13 points. Another prize offered for the most- points in the farmers' clashes for Eheep was won by Mr. J. W. Bradey with 32 points. Mr. J. Knight again came second, this time with 13 points.
