ROWING. The second heat of the senior single handicap (Mr. R. Barcham's medal) was decided last evening, when C. Gallaher (28sec) somewhat easily defeated H. Ashcroft (lOsec). The third heat will be decided this evening betec-n B. Tremain 20 sec) and '11. Naughten (40sec). In tho senior pairs for the patron (Mr. R. Yesterday's evening meeting of the Petone Junior Club Athletic Association brought forward several young bloods, who, by securing three- firsts, nut up a very creditable performance. The races took place on the . Recreation Ground, in the presence of a fairly largo number of spectators. _ The first heat of the 100 yards handicap was easily won by Allan (8 yards) with Smyrk (3 yards) second. Time 10 4-ssec. *In the second heat all the competitors finished in a bunch. Outline (8 yards) winning only by a few inches ; Joseph Cairns was second. Time, llsec. The third heat also produced a close finish, although the time- 11 2-ssec was somewhat poor. E. Ryan (5 yards) was first, with E. G.T. held its weekly session in the~ Ranfurly Hall last evening, Bro. T. Townsend, C.T., presiding. There was a*- good! muster of members, and several Visitors, including some from Wellington lodges and one from- New Plymouth. The election of officers took place, and the new officers were installed by Bro. J. W. M'Ewan, assisted by Bro. Ingram, of the Star of Wellington Lodge.
