MUNICIPAL DEADLOCK.
[BT TELEGIIAPH.—VUZSA ASSOCIATION.] DANNEVIRKE, This Day. As a result of the deadlock in the Borough Council matters, which occurred some time ago, councillors obtained Mr. Martin's opinion on the position. That opinion was read at a special meeting last night, but did not help the 'posi,tion, as tho Mayor contonded that Mr. Martin favoured his line of conduct on all points. The deadlock continues; the council will not pass accounts. Mr. Lindsay Buick has given notice to movo in the Chamber of Commerce that the Government be asked to introduce legis>lation denning the power of mayors, with tho view to preventing a recurrence of similar deadlocks in future.
