PUBLIC SERVICE CLASSIFICATION BOARD.
The Government has appointed tho following to be the board under tho Public Service Classification Act of last session : —The Eight Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, Premier; Colonel Collins, Secretary to tho Treasury ; Mr. Hugh iVilon, Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs; Mr. H. 0. IL Blow, Undersecretary for Public Works ; Mr. T. H. Hamer, Under-Secretary for Mines; Mr. W. T. Glasgow, Secretary and Inspector of Customs ; Mr. J. D. ilitehie, Secretary for Agriculture ; Mr. T. E. Donne, General Manager of tha Tourist Department ; Mr. G. Hogben, In-spectoi-General of Schools; Mr. E. Tre gear, Secretary of the , Labour Department ; and Mr. John Mackay, Government Pi inter. " \ The duty of tho board is to classify th.9 service into three divisions. When the classification is completed and approved by tho Governor-in-Council it nai to be laid before Parliament, and comes into force upon the passing of a, lcsolution to that effect by the House of Representatives. The Railways Department and tha Vost and Telegraph Department, winch already havo classification schemes of their own, are not included, and tho Act dors not apply to any lesponsible Itfinistttr of the Crown, any Judge of th" Supreme Court oi« ths Court of "Arbitration, any person whose salary is permanently appioprir.tcd by Act, any-per-son employed in !.he naval or military forces, any member of the police force, or any officer of cither Housu of Parliament.
