Lineham's billiard saloon and store, and J. Lineham's storeroom and dwelling. Insurances : — Oliver, £400 on the stock in the State office; G. Lineham, £400 on tho stock in. the Liverpool, London, and Globe ; J. Lineham, £250 on the stock and £150 on the house and furniture in the Liverpool, London, and Globe. The southerly wind on Saturday freshened the fires in tho Hamua district and an anxious time was experienced by residents. In a number of instances furniture was removed from the houses 10 places of safety. A three-roomed cottage, occupied by W. White, alongside tho hotel, was destroyed. A little of the furniture was saved. Several cowsheds and outbuildings were demolished, and general damage done t6 the township, which has been in grave danger from destruction. Natives living on the hill opposite the hotel cleared their whares of everything and slept in the open air all night. The fires have now subsided.
