■ «» * A Eeries of three races to decide th» championship of the above club was commenced on, Saturday, when the first" event was completed. A fresh southerly breeze kept the four competitors under restricted canvas The boats, which all started off wratcli, wero:— E. Bailey's Thohtta, L., .Palmer's Zel, B. Stirling's Vera, and L. Sargent's Oeo.. The Tholma and ■* Vera got away together, closely followed by the 000 and 301, and suortly after the start the Thclma established a slight lead. After hauling^ on tho wind again, however, the Vera forged ahead of her opponents, and 1 " continued to increase her lead, till sho'met with a mishap in tha second round, which forced her to retire. .The Zel then assumed tho lead, and maintained it to the finish. Tho third round saw a fine finish between the Thelma and Oeo for second place, tho Thelma eventually beating' her opponent by the small margin of 15eoc. The finishing time* were: — _ Zel (4hrs-12min 20seo, 1. '. Thelm* (4hrs 16min fesec), 2. Oeo (4hrs 17min), 3. A race will be sailed on Wednesday oveninj? for a trophy presented by th« Hon. T. W. HiElop.
