LADIES AS DENTISTS.
A .somewhat remarkable result (says the London Daily Telegraph) has followed the admission of ladies as students to the National Dental Hospital in Great Portlandstreet, the only dental institution in London which admits them. 'A*" Mr. 0. W. Glassington, who presided over the annual dinner of pa&t and present students at the Trocadero recently, pointed out, "they had absolutely knocked spots off the men. and made them feel very small beer.' Among those who had won prizes were Miss Dorothy Humby and Miss Bostoek, who, between them, carried off four first prizes out of eleven and seven out of ; twelve second and third places ; but for the Rymer gold modal for the most distinguished student of the year, Mr. Louis Hitchcock just beat Mifs Bostoek. Mr. Glassington, who was proposing the toast of tho hospital and college, commented on the fact that they lacked bqth funds and students. The great trouble of dentists to-day was tho quack who plastored his, place over with tho word "teeth," but who fortunately was at least prevented from calling himself a dentist. The only hope was that the public would distinguish between the true and 'Iho false. Mr. Sydney Spokes, the dean, who responded, urged that the lack of students was clue not to any deficiency at the hospital, but to tho natural growth of similar institutions in tho provinces. As to their lady students, they had given a noble example of earnostneos in their work to the men, and had furnished an incentive to them to work honestly and well.
Fuller's Touring Vaudeville Company will play at Feilding on Tuesday 'siud' Wpcloesddy, show da.ya. Mr. Alf. Linl' i y vrili be iv charge of the coun>any.
