ASKED TO STAY IN WINTER QUAIIIERS. Uy Telegraph — Vress. Awocirttion.— Chnyilght. SYDNEY, 30th January. Letters received by Mrs. David, wife of Professor David, of Sydney, who at tho invitation of Commander Shacklcton accompanied the Antarctic ship Nimrod on her southward trip, state 'that Commander Shacldoton has asked Professor David to remain with him in winter quarters this year, and to take sole chargo of the scientific work except the. biological ; also to take chargo of the publication of the scientific results bo far as they relate to geology and meteoroJ °gyProfessor David is accepting the invitation on condition that, when he •reaches the great ice barrier, he can stand the climate. Commander Shackleton thinks the Professor can stand ths cold better than some of the younger members of the expedition.
