A LIVELY COUNCIL MEETING.
NELSON AGITATED OVER THE HALF-HOLIDAY. [BT TBL3GBAi?H. — FBESS ASSOCIATION.] NELSON, This Day. At a, special meeting of tho City ! Council last night to consider the question of fixing the weekly half-holiday, deputations were present favouring Wednesday and Saturday respectively, and were supported by a very large gathering of tho townspeople. After a heated debate, the council resolved in favour of Saturday, which will v therefore be the statutory closing day for the next fifteen months, when the ratepayers will vote on the question at the municipal elections. Proceedings were lively throughout, and at times the crowd in ; the auditorium was vsry disorderly.
