BARNARDO MEMORIAL FUND.
A circular is to hand from Jlr. Howard Williams, treasurer oE the Barnardo Memorial Fund, bringing the claim for a national memorial under public notice. It i& considered that any commemoration of Dr. Barnardo' s work should be of a practical nature, and that the most fitting recognition would be the establishment upon a permanent basis of the work to which his life had been given. At the time of their founder's death, ths financial liabilities of the Homes totalled £249,000, which amount had since been reduced to £82,550. It is the aim of the committee to perpetuate Barnarclo"s memory by freeing his Homes from debt, and with this object, they "appeal to friends of children throughout the Empire. The secretary of the fund is the Bey. James Marchant; tjie chief offices are 18 to 26, Rtepney-causevay, London, E.G. ; and the bankers of the fund are the London and South-Western Bank (Bow branch), Union of London, .ncl Smith's Bank.
