The new councillors, with the exception of Councillor Eastwood, held their first meeting this morning, and put through a fair amount of preliminary business. Councillor Hawkins (Makara) was appointed chairman for the ensuing year. The matter of appointing a clerk and securing office and meeting rooms first came up for consideration. The returning officer, and late clerk of the Mak-ara Road Board. Mr. G.
