The*' Austral Club banquetted Admiral Sir Richard Poore, who is to succeed Sir Wiftnot Fawkes, as commander-in-chief on. the Australian squadron. Lord Jersey presided, and those present included Mr. W. P. Reeves (New Zealand's High Comissioner), and the 'AgentshGenerals. Sir 'Richard poors- said that, as a believer in Conservative Imperial unity, he would be glad of the opportunity of studying on the spot the aspirations, work, and difficulties of Australia and New Zealand.
