SIR RICHARD POORE. A BANQUET IN LONDON.

The*' Austral Club banquetted Admiral Sir Richard Poore, who is to succeed Sir Wiftnot Fawkes, as commander-in-chief on. the Australian squadron. Lord Jersey presided, and those present included Mr. W. P. Reeves (New Zealand's High Comissioner), and the 'AgentshGenerals. Sir 'Richard poors- said that, as a believer in Conservative Imperial unity, he would be glad of the opportunity of studying on the spot the aspirations, work, and difficulties of Australia and New Zealand. AN EXPLANATION. (Received, January 11, 8.42 a.m. LONDON, 10th. January. Sir Richard Poore volunteers the explanation that in using the word "Conservative" he intended to convey tho meaning of co-operative Imperial unity.
