Check. was appointed delegate to the United Fire Brigades Conference at Masterton in March nest. At this week's meeting of the South Wairarapn. Hospital Board a credit balance of £203 4s lid was reported, and accounts for £92 15s were passed for payment. The abattoir returns produce figures which cannot deceive and these show that in December, 1906, £148 15s 6d was paid in slaughtering fees, while last month only £93 9s od was I>aid, a reduction of over one third, or tie ,owest amount paid since the abattoirs opened. A well known and popular Masterton young lady, Miss Holloway, was entertained at a sccial gathering last evening, and prestTiUd h-- Mr. A. Vi . Hogg, M.P., on behalf of numerous friends with some Landsome articles of silver and glassware, on the eve of hei approaching marriage with Mr. J. Bradbury. The latter is the ■weH-kno-vm amateur long-distance runner, and is also very popular in the district.
