GERMANY AND BRITAIN.

An inspired article published in tha Lokalanzeiger (a journal credited with ths largest circulation of any in -Berlin, but possessing no political standing) denounces the unscrupulous Anglophobe -propaganda which has been carried on lately in some quarters by the Navy League, and which has led to the resignation of a number of prominent personages from membership. The paper emphasises • the fact that the result of the visit of the Emperor William to England has been the .completion of the rapprochement between the two countries. Friendship is desired by the intelligent majority of both peoples, "and," adds the Lokalanzeiger, "the influence of the moderate and re- ' sponsiblo press^ ought to be strong enough to restrain the" pushers, storm-ei-s, and agitators on the German side."LONDON, 20th December. Speaking at Berwick, Sir Edward Grey declared his belief that the Kaissr's visit to England was bound to have a good effect, both in Germany and Britain.
